Te Rapa Auto Electrical is well equipped to carry out your vehicle servicing and maintenance. We have a large range of oils available to us, with LiquiMoly being our oil of choice. We also have a many scan tools for dealing with those ‘service due’ reminders that pop up on the dash.
Suspension fault confirmed, diagnosed, and repaired. Suspension pump and relay required. Reasonably common fault in the Discovery, Range Rover and Range rover Sport Range. The latest scan tool we have allows for us to apply software updates that are often required as a part of this repair.
Old pump out/ New pump in!
Out with the old and in with the new. We loved the old Nissan Navara, however it was just starting to get passed its use by date. We had had an idea of a later model Ute in the pipe line. Turned out to be some great deals out there so we’ve opted to get a new Ford Ranger. Its the base model but its suits us, we intend to do some of our own upgrades which we will document here, things like GPS, Dash Cam, power brake controller etc etc
The old Nissan has been with Terapa Auto Electrical forever., Its done its job!!
Here she is before Delivery, stock standard with some Ford Alloys thrown in as part of the deal. Looking forward to making it our own.
First things on the list of accessories will be a Factory Towbar (Still to come), and the install of the Redarc ‘Electric Trailer Brake Controller’. We usually carry these units in stock due to demand…
Here’s a very specific tool that any/all Auto Electrical shops should have access too and the knowledge on how to use. Cody here is testing the outputs on an alternator, not only checking amperage output, but really putting the unit through its paces, low load, high load, low rpm, high rpm etc etc. Modern times often means rebuilding is not financially viable, however often replacement assemblies aren’t available, and a thorough bench test will give us a good guide prior to strip down. Very Very Cool old machine, a necessity for any Auto Electrical shop.
We are an authorized dealer for Link ECU engine management systems.. Check out the link website here or take a look at an earlier Blog here of ours which takes a look at custom loom we did earlier in 2022.
Nice project offered up to us to rewire the engine bay in this Silvia to suit the engine upgrade and the new LINK ECU. We’re starting with the LINK “A” and “B” engine Looms, customising them to suit the engine Install and sensor locations. All New Bosch Sensors have been used for Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure, Intake Air Temp, which will now be looked after by the LINK G4+fitted in the OEM Location. We’re fabricating our own custom coil loom to suit the Bosch Audi Coils and incorporating the brand new NZEFI Injector Harness. A Franklin Engineering Cam Angle Sensor kit replaces the stock Nissan CAS for more accurate Ignition Timing Control. Stock Style plugs are being used where possible with Deutsch Connectors taking up duties everywhere else. The Whole loom will be protected by Loom Braid.
Boost is provided by a Garret GT35/82R and a 50mm TurboSmart External Wastegate keeps Boost levels in check. Intake Temps are kept in check with an Aeroflow Performance Front Mounted Intercooler.
Below: A big job ahead, initial work. Coil Loom coming together, Earth and Power Cables Waiting for Terminals. Main Harness gets its final Loom Wrapping before Braid goes on and Final Fitment in place. Battery relocation to boot is on the cards too for this Street and Track Weapon. The LINK ecu has been mounted neatly in the factory location, adding to the OEM nature of the install.
Some work on the underside of the car also required, speed sensors, earth cable etc, as well as the beginnings of the battery relocation. We’ve supplied a lightweight, very compact battery for running the vehicle. Looks are deceiving, this wee beast offers a pulse crank of 600A, more than enough to wake the big six cylinder up, even on the coldest mornings! Large diameter Ground and Power cables ensure minimal voltage drop for rapid cranking and less strain on the alternator.
Some massive computing power in these 2 scan tools. It would be nice but there just isn’t one tool out there that does everything we need it too. These are two of our recent purchases that do have a massive amount of scope for such small units.
Running a lot of equipment from your vehicle while the engines not in use, this system allows you to use allocated electrical demand from the aux battery while keeping the main vehicle starter battery at full charge. Great for work service vehicles, campers etc. We’ve even fitted to a ute used for show dogs so they can run their cage cooling fans during the day while parked up and have no fear of the flat battery at the end of the show.
Leading the way with the latest equipment and talented staff.
We have a huge range of tools required for diagnostics, fault finding and tuning. Everything from the latest scans tools from Autologic, Autel and Snap-On to name a few, to Smoke machines and Walnut blasting equipment. The list of equipment is impressive and a requirement in our line of work.
Having to tools is one thing, more importantly we have the people who know how to use them. Its not just reading codes or hooking up a smoke machine, its knowing how to analyse the data and work through a process to achieve the desired outcome.
Autologic at work in this pic, Autologic is regarded within the trade as one of the best tools for the European car market, an impressive tool that has a huge range of functions, code reading, live data, coding, activations and actuations etc. Also in this pic is or ‘KESS’ alientech interface for remapping. Stage one tunes are available by appointment.
Having Air-conditioning issues, or just think it should be running cooler. 2020 we purchased all new gear to deal with R134a refrigerant which 95% of the cars on our roads use. We have a qualified AC tech on site and can tackle all manner of AC work, from re-gassing systems to diagnostics and repairs.
While using air conditioning in your car, it circulates the air and removes moisture from the air, which can help reduce the humidity levels and prevent the growth of bacteria, mould, and mildew. Additionally, the air filter in the air conditioning system can trap dust, dirt, and other particles that can contribute to bad odours. (Pollen or cabin air filters are a replacement service item often overlooked).
Reducing the moisture inside of the car vastly increases the defogging of windows in the winter and lowers the temperature in the car on those hotter days.
Great for all seasons!!
Here’s a great example of a poorly serviced car, pollen filters are often overlooked as part of the general vehicle service. A filter this blocked greatly reduces the air flow at the vents, reducing the efficiency of the AC.
