Autosure Mechanical Warranty’s available here

Mechanical Insurance

We get questions all of the time around mechanical break down insurance.  We are approved to carry out repairs for all of the major providers here at Te Rapa Auto Electrical. I’m unsure of any in fact that we haven’t previously done work for.  We can also provide autosure policy’s for vehicles that qualify.  We are huge advocates for policy’s as we see on a daily basis expensive mechanical and electrical failures.
Some FAQ’s, remembering all providers and tiers of cover are slightly different
What’s covered? – In general any legit mechanical or electrical failure for items that aren’t deemed as where and tear.
Are there any exclusions?– Yes, depending on provider and level of cover, some policy’s wont cover things like Navigation and audio etc
Are Hybrids and EV’s covered? – Short answer is give me a call with details and we can enquire, We have had some EV batteries covered in recent months.
What’s required to get a policy?–  For Autosure the car needs to meet the age and mileage criteria which is different depending on tier of cover wanted and type of vehicle, but we can find out for you..  The vehicle needs a precheck also, as pre existing faults are not covered.
What’s required if i have a policy? – The owners requirement is to meet the servicing requirements, usual any MTA recognised workshop like ours is ok for servicing. An example for Autosure, if your car is a Diesel, it needs to be serviced every 10,000kms or 12 months, which ever occurs first.
What happens if I break down? – Most provider give you a 24/7 breakdown service that will get you to a garage.
What happens if i make a claim? -Generally its assess and report on the owners authority, due to the unknown. IE a coolant leak.  If a stones gone through the radiator this would not be covered, however it the radiator has failed and leaking at a seam or similar, then likely it is.

JETBOAT

This crazy machine showed up for some electrical tidy up, finishing touches. What a beast! 450hp LT based V8 (Marinized)

Simple DIY gone wrong

Thankfully an easy fix for this one, not sure how its come about? A previous repair maybe, or somebody having a go at home. Luckily its only stopped the heater from blowing hot and not caused something a bit more serious like the engine to overheat.

Range Rover Suspension repair

Suspension fault confirmed, diagnosed, and repaired. Suspension pump and relay required. Reasonably common fault in the Discovery, Range Rover and Range rover Sport Range. The latest scan tool we have allows for us to apply software updates that are often required as a part of this repair.

Old pump out/ New pump in!

Workshop Upgrades

Out with the old and in with the new. We loved the old Nissan Navara, however it was just starting to get passed its use by date. We had had an idea of a later model Ute in the pipe line. Turned out to be some great deals out there so we’ve opted to get a new Ford Ranger. Its the base model but its suits us, we intend to do some of our own upgrades which we will document here, things like GPS, Dash Cam, power brake controller etc etc

The old Nissan has been with Terapa Auto Electrical forever., Its done its job!!

Here she is before Delivery, stock standard with some Ford Alloys thrown in as part of the deal. Looking forward to making it our own.

First things on the list of accessories will be a Factory Towbar (Still to come), and the install of the Redarc ‘Electric Trailer Brake Controller’. We usually carry these units in stock due to demand…

Camper Accessories

Little camper in for some accessories and safety upgrades. Nice bright LED High stop and tail light assemblies. And an updated charging system to tie in with the fresh solar panels.

Tyres at Terapa

Here’s a little side hustle we have been doing at Terapa Auto Electrical. ‘Waikato Wheels and Tyres’.

Engine Detox

Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning has arrived at Terapa Auto Electrical.

Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning, a non invasive way to breakdown the carbon build up in your engine. This will compliment our other engine ‘Detox’ tools like our walnut blasting process and LiquiMoly intake cleaning systems. A great add-on to any tune up, or preventative routine maintenance with the added bonus of potential added fuel economy and performance.

Wellington European – We have had one of these machines in our Wellington Store for a few years, runs on water, no harsh chemicals running through your engine. We trialed a few versions that were messy and time consuming to run. This is an easy to use clean green machine. Runs on Water, Converts to Hydrogen, takes 35 minutes from start to finish.

One of our cars having a Hydrogen Carbon Clean, as well as a stage one remap tune including a cat delete. This was done in our Wellington Workshop before bringing up to Terapa Auto Electrical. Of course all of these services can be provided at Terapa now……

Specialized Testing of Starter Motors and Alternators

Here’s a very specific tool that any/all Auto Electrical shops should have access too and the knowledge on how to use. Cody here is testing the outputs on an alternator, not only checking amperage output, but really putting the unit through its paces, low load, high load, low rpm, high rpm etc etc. Modern times often means rebuilding is not financially viable, however often replacement assemblies aren’t available, and a thorough bench test will give us a good guide prior to strip down. Very Very Cool old machine, a necessity for any Auto Electrical shop.
